OptiDEN

Optimisation of District Energy Network

The platform that identifies the optimal design for heat network development scenarios, maximising economic returns and ensuring technical feasibility.

Business problem

Developing heat networks requires analysing multiple scenarios with interconnected technical, economic and urban-planning variables, in contexts where uncertainty weighs directly on the return on investment.

OptiDEN helps you navigate this complexity and qualify the optimal design, supporting the strategic process of asset evolution.

Our solution

OptiDEN delivers network design scenarios optimised on three levels:

  • technical: routes and sizing of new pipelines;
  • operational: the operating regime of the new system;
  • economic: investment indicators and cash-flow sheet.

Each scenario integrates all three dimensions, letting you compare project alternatives and identify the one that maximises return on investment while respecting technical constraints.

How it works

OptiDEN lets you configure the scenarios to analyse in great detail:

  • mapping of existing and/or potential networks and customers, starting from imported existing GIS data;
  • technical and operational constraints (e.g. pressure limits, plant capacity);
  • cost-revenue structure (e.g. tariffs for new customers, pipeline installation costs);
  • financial parameters.

The outputs of the processed scenarios are mapping data and detailed reports. These can be easily exported to enable analysis processes outside OptiDEN platform.

Benefits

  • Highly detailed configuration: adapt each scenario to the technical, economic and urban-planning specifics of your project.
  • Fast analysis: create and compare multiple scenarios quickly.
  • Integrated hydraulic model: generate technically feasible scenarios and focus your analysis on economic optimisation and return on investment.
