The European MINOA project (Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Optimization: Algorithms and Applications), funded by Horizon 2020 and running from 2018 for four years, had as its main goal the training of 12 highly qualified early-career researchers in the fields of mathematical optimisation, operational research and computer science.
Optit took part as an industrial partner, contributing to the development of applied projects in strategic sectors such as energy, logistics, engineering and data science.
The idea behind the project was to combine advanced mathematical approaches to tackle the complex problems of contemporary society, creating innovative solutions that are scalable and applicable at industrial level.
MINOA connected universities, research institutes and European companies, offering researchers an integrated training pathway. The young people involved were able to develop interdisciplinary skills, moving between theory, algorithm development and real-world applications.
With this project, Optit helped strengthen Europe’s human capital base in a key field such as optimisation, encouraging the spread of advanced quantitative methods in industrial and decision-making contexts too.
