Transforming efficiency in environmental services
A deep transformation journey to measure performance and deliver concrete economic and environmental returns.
The challenge
Sei Toscana is the sole operator of environmental services for the ATO Toscana Sud, serving the provinces of Arezzo, Grosseto and Siena, plus six municipalities in the province of Livorno.
The central challenge was to improve operational efficiency and measure performance to deliver real, tangible value to local communities. This called for a systemic approach that combined innovation, sustainability and data at its core.
The goal was to move beyond traditional management approaches and adopt a data-driven decision-making model flexible enough to adapt to different operational and local priorities.
How we create value
Optit worked alongside Sei Toscana on a deep transformation journey, building a modular model and integrating multiple strands of action.
The key to success was the “engagement model”: an integrated consultancy approach backed by the systematic use of digital technologies at every stage of the project: design, simulation, deployment and monitoring.
Using OptiRoute, our Decision Support System, now evolved into OptiWasteFlow, waste pick-up was redesigned around real data, tailoring services to the specific needs of the territory, the fleet and operators. At the same time, we identified the field data needed to build operational KPIs, essential for monitoring service effectiveness at every level of the organisation.
Impact
The result is a replicable model that turns data into value and optimises decisions. The benefits achieved include:
- Better governance of environmental services.
- Greater transparency across the whole chain.
- Stronger operational responsiveness.
- Concrete, measurable economic and environmental returns.
