{"id":39744,"date":"2019-11-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/optit.net\/2019\/11\/22\/plames-kick-off-meeting\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T11:29:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T09:29:18","slug":"plames-kick-off-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/optit.net\/en\/news\/plames-kick-off-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"PLAMES kick-off meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PLAMES is a project financed by the European Union and directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rwth-aachen.de\/\">Rheinisch-Westfaelische Technische Hochschule Aachen<\/a> (Germany) in partnership with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unibo.it\">University of Bologna<\/a>, OPTIT and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osmangaziedas.com.tr\/\">Osmangazi Elektrik Dagitim Anonim Sirketi<\/a> (Turkey). The first meeting was held in Aachen.\n\n<strong>The project\u2019s objective is to develop an integrated planning instrument for multi-energy systems.<\/strong>\n\nStarting with an analysis of the requirements of the various energy sectors (electricity, heating, transportation, and gas), PLAMES will create a model capable of calculating the optimal mix of future energy requirements for all of Europe &#8211; as a consequence, promoting the decarbonisation of energy production.\nThis ambitious goal calls for resolving both computational and mathematical challenges involved in modelling these energy sectors.\nThanks to PLAMES, it will be possible to provide this new tool to diverse stakeholders: European systems planners, governmental and regulatory authorities, technology companies, and operators of networks and public services.\n\n<em>The PLAMES project is financed \u00a0by the European Union as part of Horizon 2020\u2019s Framework Programme\u00a0for Research and Innovation, grant
