The project promotes the Technology Transfer Innovation Programme (TTIP), with the aim of harnessing industrial research as a driver of sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DOCABILITY sits within this framework: a training activity that gives PhD candidates the opportunity to engage with selected companies on industrial topics linked to the sustainable transition.<br\/><br\/>The meeting at Optit was an important opportunity for our team \u2014 represented by Luca Ferrari and Maria Francesca Colombo \u2014 to exchange ideas with the researchers involved, exploring the challenges of optimising energy plants and networks.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We shared some hands-on approaches and ran creative problem-solving exercises, discussing a few key challenges:<br\/><br\/>\u2705 How to embed a Digital Twin within an established industrial process, and the communication challenges this involves<br\/>\u2705 Decarbonisation and emissions reduction in energy-intensive companies, and the economic impact<br\/>\u2705 Optimising energy efficiency investments and optimisation strategies for the sustainable transition<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This exchange helped the PhD candidates gain a better understanding of how innovation works in an industrial setting. At the same time, for us at Optit it was a valuable chance to gather fresh perspectives and methodological approaches from the world of research.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our thanks go to ART-ER and <a class=\"underline underline underline-offset-2 decoration-1 decoration-current\/40 hover:decoration-current focus:decoration-current\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dockto.org\/\">DocKto<\/a>: a mind set to explore, Maria Giulia Pezzi, PhD, Alain Marenghi and Giulia Caponeri for organising this wonderful initiative, and to all the participants for their active involvement.
