Matteo Pozzi and Luca Ferrari recently participated in the Euroheat & Power Congress, highlighting the pivotal role digitalization plays in modernizing district heating and cooling (DHC) systems.
Optit’s CEO, Matteo Pozzi, contributed as a speaker in the session “From Old to Gold: DHC Modernisation Success Stories,” where he presented notable success stories showcasing the transformative impact of digitalization on district heating. With investments in networks, a strategic modernization of buildings and a solid digitalisation process, Europe’s existing infrastructure can become an important lever in the energy transition.
The Congress, during three days of intense debate and in-depth analysis, underscored the importance of digitalization strategies in unlocking transformation within the DHC industry. The deployment of district heating and cooling is essential to tapping into Europe’s abundant renewable and excess heat recovery sources.
The potential, estimated at over 2000 TWh/year, surpasses Europe’s total forecasted heat demand for 2050. Progress begins with identifying waste heat and recycling opportunities from demand to supply, enhanced by digital solutions. These solutions enable the efficient integration of various heat sources, optimizing both production networks for utilities and the heat used in buildings.
Optit remains committed to fostering a more efficient and sustainable future through engagement and the application of advanced digital capabilities.
