We are pleased to announce that Optit’s CEO, Matteo Pozzi, recently participated in the 5th EURO Practitioners’ Forum held in Coimbra, where he presented the paper titled “From OR to Trustworthy AI: the experience of the TUPLES project.”
The EURO Practitioners’ Forum aims to provide operational research (OR) professionals with practical tools, networking opportunities, and insights from other disciplines to enhance their impact on business, society, and beyond. This year’s theme focused on the collaboration between OR and fields such as Machine Learning, Econometrics, and Simulation.
Matteo Pozzi’s presentation emphasized Optit’s role as an industrial partner in the HorizonEU-funded TUPLES project, which is dedicated to developing safe, robust, and explainable AI-driven planning and scheduling systems.
Optit, founded as a spin-off of the University of Bologna, has always sought to bridge the gap between research and real-world impact. Our involvement in TUPLES aligns with our mission of transforming research into meaningful solutions for businesses and society.
The project has highlighted several key insights:
- Decision support systems (DSS) are increasingly hybrid, combining OR, Data Science, and AI.
- Robustness, explainability, and trustworthiness are critical aspects for AI adoption.
- Human factors and the quality of human-machine interaction play a vital role in the acceptance of DSS.
- Collaboration between experts from different fields is not only possible but also enriches each domain.
We are proud to contribute to these workshops and continue to explore ways in which interdisciplinary collaboration can lead to innovative and practical solutions for optimizing decisions.
